Lettera del Governatore, aprile 2023
Cari Amici,
da pochi giorni, dopo il solstizio di primavera, siamo
entrati nel quarto trimestre di quest’anno rotariano. Siamo nel vivo
dell’attività, ed il Distretto e si Club si muovono in ogni settore del Service
con grande passione e orgoglio dell’appartenenza.
Il Distretto continua ad agire secondo le linee guida concertate con i
Presidenti, con le attività condivise, vie d’azione legate e adattate al
territorio, progetti che fanno concreta la presenza del Club come forma di attiva
testimonianza. Il Distretto è in Action, e c’è soddisfazione ed entusiasmo in
questo!
Nel mese di marzo abbiamo completato – con la visita a Partanna – le visite ufficiali ai Club. Desidero ringraziare tutti Voi, cari Presidenti e soci, per la calorosa accoglienza ricevuta durante le giornate trascorse insieme. Ci avete dato modo di conoscere nel dettaglio lo stato del Distretto e tutte le vostre progettualità, ma, soprattutto, ci avete arricchito con la vostra Amicizia e le vostre attenzioni.
Girare per i Club ci ha permesso di vedere come l’idea delle “Case di Paul Harris” sia stata da Voi declinata. E dico da Voi, perché ognuna di queste realizzazioni sul territorio porta le vostre idee, le vostre potenzialità, i vostri impegni. Questi impegni sono diventati l’inimmaginabile numero a tutt’oggi di ben 65 Case di Paul Harris! Grazie Amici per averci creduto, grazie per il vostro impegno e grazie per portare orgogliosamente all’esterno l’immagine fattiva del nostro Rotary!
Nel mese di marzo si è completato anche l’invio di tutti i Global Grant oggetto della nostra progettualità. Sono ben otto, e forse riusciremo a portarli a nove. Ciò è stato reso possibile per la forte integrazione e i forti rapporti con amici di altri Distretti italiani e anche di Rotary Club stranieri nostri partner. Tutti i Global Grant inviati ad Evanston (alcuni già in fase di pagamento), hanno tutti come destinazione aree e Club del Distretto. Siamo riusciti ad utilizzare le risorse del FODD e i contributi sia dei Club sia di Sponsor per portare a compimento questo grande risultato. Le somme da noi raccolte per la Rotary Foundation, siamo riusciti a farle ritornare come sovvenzione per i progetti dei nostri Club! Investiamo in Sicilia e a Malta.
Sempre a fine marzo è stato inaugurato a Siracusa il RYLA Distrettuale avente come tema “Immagina la leadership”. Leadership Etica, Leadership Dinamica, Leadership Comunitaria con un laboratorio di Project Cycle Management, un incontro intergenerazionale con esperienza di leadership a confronto ed una tavola rotonda su “Immagina la Leadership etica, innovazione e sostenibilità” sono stati gli argomenti che hanno “avvolto” i circa 40 partecipanti nei giorni del RYLA tenuti a Siracusa, sotto la guida di qualificati relatori.
Il mese di Aprile 2023 è dedicato dal Rotary all’ambiente. La sostenibilità ambientale è la nostra settima area focus e molti club sono impegnati su tali tematiche, dalla sensibilizzazione all’eliminazione delle plastiche, alla tutela ambientale, dal “Progetto api” alla formazione nelle scuole su tali temi.
In quest’ambito mi fa piacere segnalare che uno dei Global Grant proposti dal nostro Distretto (RC Gozo, con un Club del D.2050 della Lombardia e il RC Siracusa Monti Climiti), riguarda un innovativo sistema di acquaponica con produzione di cibo per acquacoltura, fitodepurazione e recupero delle biomasse, e che su iniziativa di Club dell’area palermitana un “Flavofish” (originale di quelli brevettati dall’E-Club D. 2110) è stata posizionato sulla terrazza di un Rifugio nell’Alta Val Gardena, all’interno di una reciprocità di scambi su tematiche ambientali con i club veneti del D. 2060.
Infine, approfitto di questa lettera per augurare a tutti Voi ed alle Vostre famiglie, a nome di Melissa, mio e di tutti i Componenti lo Staff Distrettuale, una Serena Santa Pasqua.

Letter from the Governor, April 2023
Dear friends,
A few days ago , after the spring solstice , we entered the fourth quarter of this Rotary year .We are in full swing, and the District and the Clubs move in every sector of the Service with great passion and pride of belonging .
The District continues to operate within the guidelines agreed upon with the Presidents , with shared activities . courses of action linked and adapted to the territory , projects that make the presence of the Clubs concrete ,as a form of active testimony . The District is in Action , and there is satisfaction and enthusiasm in this !
In March , we completed – with the visit of Partanna – the official visits to the Clubs . I wish to thank all of you , dear Presidents and members , for the warm welcome received , during the days spent together. You have given us the opportunity to know, in detail ,the state of the District and all your projects, but , above all, you have enriched us with your Friendship and your attentions.
Going around the Clubs allowed us to see how the idea of “Paul Harris ‘ Houses” was declined by you . And I say by You , because each of these achievements in the area, brings your ideas, your potential, and your commitments. These commitments have become the unimaginable number ,today, of 65 Paul Harris ‘ Houses ! Thank you , friends, for believing this , thank you for your commitment and thank you for, proudly ,carrying our Rotary’s active image , outward !
In the month of March , the sending of all Global Grants , aim of our planning, was also completed. There are eight of them, and perhaps, we will be able to bring them to nine . That was made possible by the strong integration and strong relationships with friends of other Italian Districts and also of our partner foreign Rotary Clubs. All Global Grants sent to Evanston (some already in the payment phase ), they all target areas and Clubs in the District . We managed to use DDF resources and the contributions of both the Clubs and Sponsors to bring this great achievement to fruition. We were able to get back the funds raised by us, for the Rotary Foundation, as Grants for the projects of our Clubs ! We invest in Sicily and Malta .
Also , in late March , in Syracuse , there was the inauguration of the District RYLA , with the theme “ Imagine Leadership “ . Ethical Leadership, Dynamic Leadership , Community Leadership, with a Project Cycle Management workshop , an intergenerational meeting with leadership experience compared and a round table on “Imagine Ethical Leadership, innovation and sustainability “ were the topics that “wrapped” the approximately 40 participants , in the days of the RYLA , held in Syracuse, under the guidance of qualified speakers.
The month of April 2023 is dedicated to environment by Rotary. The environmental sustainability is our seventh focus area and many Clubs are engaged on those issues, from sensibility to elimination of plastics, to environmental protection, from the “Bee Project” to training on these topics, in schools .
In this area, I am pleased to report that one of the Global Grants proposed by our District ( RC Gozo, together with a Lombardy Club , D. 2050, and the Syracuse Monti Climiti RC) concerns an innovative aquaponics system ,with food production for aquaculture, phytoremediation, and biomass recovery , and that ,on the initiative of Clubs, in the Palermo area, a “ Flavofish ” ( original of those, patented by the E Club D. 2110 ) was placed on the terrace of a refuge in Alta Val Gardena, within a reciprocity of exchanges on environmental issues with the Veneto Clubs , D. 2060. .
