Lettera del Governatore, ottobre 2022
Carissime Amiche ed Amici,
Ottobre nel calendario rotariano è il mese dello sviluppo economico e comunitario, in cui si vanno a sostenere le capacità imprenditoriali dei diversi territori, a favore dello sviluppo socioeconomico, e si creano opportunità di lavoro, al fine di migliorare le condizioni di vita delle comunità in difficoltà. La disparità fra mondo ricco e mondo povero allarga il solco di quelle discriminazioni sociali ed economiche che il Rotary vuole rimuovere, impegnandosi con azioni sia a livello locale che globale, per generare condizioni di sviluppo nelle comunità più bisognose.
Creare condizioni di sviluppo sostenibile, che assicurino la soddisfazione dei bisogni essenziali, il rispetto per l’ambiente, per offrire migliori condizioni di vita.
Sono obiettivi che tutti i Club, Presidenti, Soci, Staff e Squadra Distrettuale perseguono, quotidianamente, avvalendosi delle proprie professionalità, competenze e passioni.
Il tema richiama i principi dell’etica della solidarietà. Ci adoperiamo per intervenire sulle contraddizioni dello sviluppo, sulle privazioni e sulle sofferenze che colpiscono parte della popolazione mondiale.
Roosevelt sosteneva che il vero banco di prova per il nostro progresso non è tanto se riusciamo a far crescere l’abbondanza di coloro che già hanno troppo, ma piuttosto consiste nel cercare di fornire abbastanza a coloro che hanno troppo poco.
Quindi una visione solidale dei bisogni dell’uomo, che scuota le coscienze, rimuovendo l’indifferenza e stimolando la necessità di fare.
Quest’anno il progetto Network Rotariano permette, non solo di conoscere e schedare le risorse interne nei Club, ma di porre in essere quei progetti di elevata finalità sociale.
Attraverso le proprie competenze e specialità i soci, registrandosi volontariamente nella Banca del Tempo, mettono a disposizione il proprio tempo svolgendo servizi fondamentali per la crescita socioculturale delle comunità più bisognose.
Si pensi ai corsi di formazione professionale, stage formativi per giovani rotaractiani e non, orientamento e aiuto allo studio, alfabetizzazione, microcredito a favore delle nuove attività e progetto scialuppa per le attività esistenti. Sono solo alcuni dei progetti che vengono e verranno svolti nelle case di Paul Harris, progetto che sta prendendo piede non solo sul territorio del nostro Distretto ma anche negli altri Distretti italiani ed esteri, diventando il fiore all’occhiello di un servizio concreto e fattivo riconosciuto dalle nostre comunità.
Concludo ringraziando i quasi mille soci che parteciperanno alla Festa del Distretto “per tutta la famiglia” che si terrà il prossimo 8 e 9 ottobre al Sicilia Outlet Village.
Sarà un’occasione per presentare i risultati dei progetti dei Club, delle Commissioni Distrettuali, i partner istituzionali, gli sponsor, le fellowship, i progetti dei nostri ragazzi del Rotaract e dell’Interact, il progetto Rise Against Hunger, oltre che un momento per trascorrere due giornate di Service in Amicizia e spensieratezza.

Governor’s letter October 2022
Dear friends – women and men ,
October, in the Rotarian calendar, is the month of the economic and community development , It is about : -supporting the entrepreneurial skills of the different territories ,in support of economic development; -improving the living conditions of the communities in difficulty. The disparity between rich and poor world widens the furrow of those social and economic conditions that Rotary wants to remove, and undertakes to do so, acting locally and globally, to generate conditions for development, in communities .
These are goals that all Clubs, Presidents, Members, Staff and District Team pursue, on a daily basis, through their own skills and passions.
The theme recalls the principles of ethics and solidarity. We act, in order to carry out some actions on the contradictions of development, on the deprivations and on the sufferings that affect part of the world population.
Serving in the poorest communities , to create conditions of development, which ensure the satisfaction of essential needs , the respect for the environment , to offer better living conditions.
Roosevelt argued that the real test for our purposes is not so much, if we can increase the abundance of those who already have too much , but , rather, it consists in trying to provide enough, for those who have too little.
So , a supportive vision of man’s needs , which must shake consciences, remove indifference and stimulate the need to act.
In this Rotary year , the Rotarian network project allows, not only to know and register the internal resources in the Clubs, but to implement those projects of high social purpose.
By registering voluntarily with the Time Bank , through their skills and specialties, the members make their time available, performing services fundamental for the socio-cultural growth of the communities most in need.
For young Rotaractors and not- Rotaractors , think of professional training courses, training internships, guidance and study help, literacy, microcredit in favor of new activities and lifeboat project for existing activities. They are only some of the projects that are and will be carried out, in Paul Harris Houses, that are spreading, not only , across the District territory , but also in Italian and foreign Districts ,becoming the flagship of a practical and effective service, which is daily recognized in our communities,
I conclude , thanking the nearly one thousand members who will participate in the District Party “ for the whole family” that will be held in Agira, on October 8 and 9.It will be an opportunity to present the results of the projects of the Clubs , of the District Committees , institutional partners, sponsors, fellowships, the projects of the young people from Rotaract and Interact ,the Service of the ‘Rise Against Hunger’ project and spend our two days of service, in friendship and lightness.
