Mese dell’Alfabetizzazione e Educazione di base
Nell’attuale situazione socio-economica, con una migrazione di popoli continua e incontrollata, l’alfabetizzazione e l’educazione di base potrebbero interessare anche localmente molti club. Attivarsi per creare gli strumenti atti a promuovere i diritti umani, la parità dei sessi, la multiculturalità e, in piccola parte, anche la risoluzione dei possibili conflitti è sicuramente un passo importante che tutti i club e tutti i rotariani dovrebbero fare.
Una citazione di Nelson Mandela spesso riportata, recita testualmente: “La cultura e la conoscenza sono indispensabili per garantire uguaglianza tra i popoli e favorire democrazia e pace.”
Ecco allora come il Rotary sprona tutti i Rotariani del mondo ad attivarsi con forza e determinazione, affinché, considerate le loro alte professionalità, essi possano fare tanto, fornendo, ove e quando possibile, mezzi e uomini in grado di avviare processi culturali importanti.
Cogliamo dunque senza indugio il forte invito che il Rotary fa a noi tutti.
Ecco che il progetto del “Network rotariano” diventa strumento attuatore delle potenzialità dei singoli Soci del Distretto che sentono forte il desiderio di mettersi alla prova in attività di servizio sul territorio.
Ecco che incominciano così a sostanziarsi i progetti delle numerose “Case di Paul Harris”, non solo come contenitori da riempire di strumenti e attrezzature per i progetti previsti sul territorio, ma come luoghi di aggregazione e sviluppo di potenzialità di servizio attuate da Rotariani in prima persona.
Che siano progetti di “educazione nell’integrazione”, “sostegno a comunità disagiate”, o “sviluppo di nuove imprenditorie” poco importa.
E fin troppo evidente che istruzione, apprendimento, sviluppo di capacità professionali, sviluppo di nuove “start-up” saranno sempre più importanti nel futuro, anche come obiettivi già individuati dalle direttive ONU per l’educazione globale.
Quando insegni a qualcuno a leggere, a sviluppare una nuova attività autonomamente, ad avere aperti nuovi orizzonti di opportunità, gli fornisci una capacità che durerà per tutta la sua vita e che verrà trasmessa nella comunità, da una persona all’altra. Ecco cari Amici Rotariani, Rotaractiani ed Interactiani vi chiedo passione, intelligenza, amicizia, coraggio, nell’essere portatori di elevati valori, di essere Rotariani che diventano con la propria presenza e operato “people of action”, perché sono pienamente convinto cheogni profondo cambiamento sia progressivo, e che per avvenire debba essere iniziato da uomini che non hanno paura del cambiamento

Month of Literacy and basic Education
In the current socio-economic situation, with a continuous and uncontrolled migration of peoples, literacy and basic education could also locally involve many Clubs. Taking action in order to create tools to promote human rights, gender equality, multiculturalism and, to a small extent, also the resolution of possible conflicts, is, certainly, an important step that all Clubs and all Rotarians should take.
A quote from Nelson Mandela , often reported, reads word for word: “Culture and knowledge are indispensable to guarantee equality among peoples and to foster democracy and peace.”
Here, then, is how Rotary encourages all Rotarians in the world, to take action with strength and determination, so that they , given their high professionalism, can do so much, providing – where and when possible –tools and men capable of starting important cultural processes.
Let us, therefore, grasp, without delay, the strong invitation that Rotary makes to all of us.
Hence, then, the “Rotarian Network” project becomes a tool for implementing the possibilities of all individual District Members ,strongly feeling the desire to test themselves in service activities, in the area.
Here is how the projects of the numerous “Paul Harris Houses” begin to take shape, not only as containers to be filled with tools and equipment for the projects planned in the area, but also as places of meeting and development of service possibilities, implemented by Rotarians, in person-
It does not matter whether they are projects of : “education and integration” ,”support of disadvantaged communities “, or ” development of new businesses “.
It is all too obvious that education, learning, development of professional skills, development of new “start-ups” will be increasingly important in the future, even as objectives already identified by the UN directives for global education.
When you teach someone to read, to develop a new business, independently , to open up new horizons of opportunities, you provide him/her, with a skill that will last throughout their entire lives and that will be transmitted in the community, from one person to another.
Therefore, my dear Rotarian, Rotaract and Interact friends, I ask you for passion, intelligence, friendship, courage, in being – all of you – bearers of high values, to be Rotarians who become “people of action”, through their presence and work, because I am fully convinced that every profound change is progressive, and that, in order to take place, it must be initiated by men who are not afraid to change.
