Amiche e amici carissimi,
nel calendario rotariano il mese di agosto è riservato alle riflessioni sul tema dell’Effettivo, che evoca una delle priorità strategiche del Rotary International, ovvero “Migliorare l’impatto attraverso l’espansione dell’effettivo: una opportunità ed priorità per tutti noi” attraverso alcune risorse diventate, per ciascuno di noi, ineludibili: valutare il tuo club, coinvolgere i soci esistenti, creare opportunità con i potenziali soci, prestare attenzione ai potenziali leader per la cooptazione, fare sentire i nuovi soci parte integrante del club, chiedersi come dovrebbe essere il club fra cinque anni.
Il Rotary si basa sui soci, vive attraverso i club, fa affidamento sulla capacità di aggregare i leader delle comunità locali: donne e uomini con la determinazione e le competenze di essere la differenza attraverso la loro Amicizia ed il loro service, non solo nelle comunità ove operano ma anche nel mondo. L’obiettivo indicato dal Presidente è di assicurare che il Rotary come opportunità più importante, rimanga l’organizzazione umanitaria più importante al mondo.
L’incremento e il consolidamento dell’Effettivo ne è, indubbiamente, il primo presupposto e va perseguito con convincimento, accrescendo il nostro impegno a favore dei programmi, internazionali, distrettuali e di club, in modo dinamico e aperto, al fine di incentivare l’impatto nella Comunità e rendere attrattivo il Rotary per i Leader di oggi e di domani con la cooptazione di nuovi soci nelle nostre meravigliose comunità del territorio: i nostri club. Vi chiedo una membership memorabile che può essere fatta soltanto guardando con molta attenzione alla “ Forza delle Donne” ed hai giovani Leader. Non c’è una età giusta per essere Rotariani in quanto si è leader a 25 come a 85 anni. Sappiamo adeguarci al mondo che cambia con fiducia pensando ad un incremento organico e sostenibile.
Ogni club dovrebbe dotarsi di un programma, annuale e pluriennale, di sviluppo dell’Effettivo che tenga conto, in egual misura, sia il mantenimento dei soci sia le nuove cooptazioni: un club che è vigoroso e che è in movimento, consolidato nel suo territorio, che sia la differenza per la comunità in cui si opera, sarà in grado di affascinare nuovi soci. Adesso, come rotariani, abbiamo più elasticità per stabilire come riunirci, come operare insieme e come migliorarci e anche ciò, per molti, rappresenta un impulso per diversificare l’Effettivo del club, con più donne e più giovani.
Ricordiamoci che la crescita dell’Effettivo del Club di cui ciascuno fa parte e di questo Distretto Rotary si unisce inscindibilmente alla testimonianza tangibile dei valori dell’Amicizia e dei principi Etici che accompagnano l’azione delle donne e degli uomini, dei giovani leader delle nostre comunità.

Nel Distretto 2110, i soci sono circa 3600, con 96 Club Rotary, 60 Club Rotaract e 25 Club Interact. Il nostro obiettivo, quello per il quale vi chiedo di impegnarvi, è la crescita dell’Effettivo, con l’individuazione di nuovi soci per confermare la nostra Storia, unica e incomparabile, di primo Club Service sul pianeta.
La grandezza, l’unicità, l’irripetibilità della Storia del Rotary dimora nella sua caratterizzante specificità di sapersi adattare, rinnovare, crescere, in modo deciso, in un contesto sociale che muta rapidamente, talvolta troppo velocemente, riuscendo, così, a rafforzare e rendere moderni e appetibili i suoi cardini costitutivi del service.
Il mondo cambia ed il Rotary cambia e cambierà.

My dear Friends,
in the Rotarian calendar the month of August is dedicated to reflections on the theme of membership, which evokes one of the strategic priorities of Rotary International that is “Improve the impact through the increase of membership, an opportunity and priority for all of us”.
This can be done with some inescapable resources for all of us: value your club; involve the existing members; create opportunity for potential members; pay attention to potential leaders for co-optation; make new members feel integral part of club; ask yourself how clubs should be in five years.
Rotary is based on members, it lives through clubs, relies on capacity to aggregate Leaders of local communities: women and men with a strong motivation and skills to be the difference through their friendship and service, not only in the community where they operate, but also in the world. The goal set by the President is to assure that Rotary, as the most important opportunity, remains the most important humanitarian organization in the world.
The increase and consolidation of membership is for sure the first presupposition and this must be pursued with persuasion, increasing our commitment in favour of International, district and club programs in a dynamic and open way. Doing so, we can increase the impact in the Community and make Rotary attractive for Leaders of today and Tomorrows, co-opting new members in our wonderful communities: our clubs!
I am asking you a memorable membership, which can be done only looking at the “Strength of Women” and young Leaders carefully. There is not a right age to be Rotarian; you can be Leader at 25 as at 85. We know how to adapt to the changing world with trust, thinking of an organic and sustainable increase.
Each club should have an annual and multiannual program of development of membership which considers equally retention of members and new co-optation: a club which is vigorous and alive, consolidated in its territory, which is the difference for its community where it operates, will be able to attract new members.
Nowadays, we, as Rotarians, have more flexibility to establish how to do it, how to work together and how to improve ourselves. All this represents an impulse to diversify membership of clubs, with more women and young people.
Remember that the increase of membership of a club, where we are part, and of this Rotary District join values of friendship and Ethic principles which accompany an action of women and men, young leaders of our community.

In District 2110 members are about 3600, with 96 Rotary clubs, 60 Rotaract and 25 Interact clubs. Our goal, the one I am asking you to commit yourself, is to increase membership, new members to confirm our unique and incomparable history, as the first Club Service in the world.
The greatness, uniqueness, unrepeatability in history of Rotary stay in the characterizing specifity knowing how to adapt , renew, grow in a social context which changes quickly , sometimes too quickly, being able to strenght and make modern and attractive the principles of our service.
World changes and Rotary changes and will always change.
